ATV Trail Report
May 7, 2008

REMINDER:  All Iron County ATV trails remain closed.  Trails will open up as drying conditions allow.  A long, wet spring has not allowed the frost to completely escape from the ground or the trail bed to dry resulting in completely saturated soil.  Traffic on these trails during existing conditions will result in damage to the trail which cannot only be dangerous, but costly to repair.  We ask that ATVers remain patient during this time.  The media and local Chambers of Commerce will immediately be notified of any changes in trail status.

Iron County Forest Administrator

Mandatory ATV Certification
(Safety Training)
All ATV operators, including non-residents, who are at least 12 years of age and who are born on or after January 1, 1988 must obtain a DNR safety training certificate in order to ride Wisconsin trails. Prior to this change, 12 year olds and up were allowed to ride without the certification as long as they were accompanied by their parents. Wisconsin honors other state certificates issued by a government agency. Contact your local DNR or check the DNR Website for class availability at http://www.dnr.state.wi.us.
