Discover the allure and magic of the Northwoods first-hand when you visit Mercer Wisconsin. Wisconsin's favorite outdoor playground is truly a four season vacation destination. Mercer Wisconsin is also home to the famed Turtle-Flambeau Flowage.
From the beautiful lupines that bloom in profusion here in the spring, to the endless summer days of boating, canoeing, kayaking, camping and fishing, to the fall hunting and ATV rally with some of the best snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing in the winter, there's a season for you to enjoy.
We have a bit of history behind us, and much more ahead. Much of yesterday was built on our reputation as a getaway for folks in Chicago and elsewhere (did we mention that the Capone brothers sought out our solitude in the 1930s?). Today, Mercer is still a place to escape from the stresses and countless commitments that beguile families. The pace of life here is relaxed. There's time to enjoy the outdoors and spend time together as a family. The magnificent white and red pines sway in harmony with the summer breezes. Oh sure, there's a little excitement here and there, such as when a 30-pound musky slams your bait or a 12-point buck crosses your path.
Got a fishing boat, kayak or canoe? We have lots of water over 200 lakes in a 20-mile radius (and 300 miles of trout streams!). Like to swing? Hit the links at the local 9-hole golf course or try a round at the miniature golf course. Got a snowmobile or ATV? There are over 250 miles of ATV trails and nearly 500 miles of snowmobile trails.Got a thirst or hunger pangs? Our restaurants, taverns and roadhouses serve traditional and craft brews cold, along with quick eats and serious dining on sizzling steaks or Friday night fish fry.
Got a sense of adventure?Fifteen waterfalls in the area and over 378,000 acres of forestland for hunting and recreation await your compass or GPS.
Got a camera? Strike a pose next to the giant loon statue, Claire d' Loon, found at the Chamber office. Eagles, ospreys, bears, wolves, porkies, raccoons, and white-tailed deer are some of the other forest neighbors.
Got a need to shop? Our shops are small, quaint, unique and personable. Most likely, the owner will be the person saying "Hi" or "Welcome" as you walk through the front door.
